Connect

Community is an essential part of the vision and mission of Vintage Faith Church.  We want people to experience the beauty and challenge of true community.  Jesus had a lot to say about community during his time on earth.  In fact, all through the Scriptures, we see how integral community is to experiencing God and growing into people who reflect His character.  In Jesus' prayer in John 17, he says:

"I pray also for those who will believe in me through the message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me- so that they may be brought to complete unity.  Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."      -John 17:20-23

Not only does Jesus want us to be in community to learn and grow and connect... the heart of the type of community that Jesus is talking about urges us to be one, just as Jesus and the Father are one.  Much of how this works is a mystery, but based on Jesus' heart and much of the Scriptural narrative, those who follow Jesus are called to a deep kind of intimacy and unity in relationship that perhaps many of us have never experienced.  Community is also a way for us to reflect the love of Jesus for the world, since as we are brought to complete unity together in Him, then the "world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

There are many ways we experience community, and many levels as which we experience it. Sometimes we need to experience community at a broader level before we are ready to dig deep.  Sometimes we are at a place where we need to go deeper with others, but struggle to know how.  Our hope is that through the various community groups, ministry teams, school of theology classes, special events and other ministry connections offered here, that everyone who encounters us would have the opportunity to connect in community on many levels.
