RENOVATE: creating space for the mission of God

Throughout the journey, the glory belongs to God!

In these past 4 years, God has done amazing things in and through us as Vintage Faith Church! People are experiencing the love and life of Jesus through us as God continues to transform us into a worshiping community of missional theologians.  We want to always recognize that God is the One who changes lives and who is deserving of all the glory for all the good things happening along the journey of Vintage Faith.

Creating Spaces

This upcoming season of Vintage Faith is going to be more exciting than ever, as we create space for God’s mission to shape the future!  Here is a look at what’s ahead:

  • Extending the mission of The Brickhouse (coffeehouse ministry) We’ve hired our coffee house ministries manager and are going to have the coffee house becoming more known in our community – open more regularly, events throughout the week, more people getting connected to the community!
  • Creating space for our kids We have around 45 kids who are part of our community and there are now 17 moms expecting!  Needless to say, our children’s ministry is blossoming, and we will need to create clean, safe, functional creative space for kids classes and play areas.
  • Creating space for experiential and interactive elements in our worship One of our core values as a church has been creativity in our worship and striving for participation in worship that goes beyond singing together.  Our sanctuary space does not currently allow for much interaction / experience in worship.  This year, we’re hoping to remodel that space to allow for greater diversity in our worship.
  • Creating space for mid-sized groups With the Brickhouse becoming more focused in its usage, it will no longer be available for mid sized group meetings (SoulKitchen, School of Theology classes, etc).  We want to see these ministries continue to thrive, and so we are going to create multi-functional spaces in our sanctuary and our gym.  The gym can then be available for mid sized group gatherings as well as continue to be used for basketball, volleyball, kids games during worship gatherings, and more.
  • We’ll also be creating space for an internship program, music studio, and have the ability to host conferences for worship, arts, and leadership training.

In order to create these spaces for the mission of God, we are going to renovate our facility at 350 Mission Street.

What is “Renovate?”

  • 1 : to restore to a former better state (as by cleaning, repairing, or rebuilding)
  • 2 : to restore to life, vigor, or activity : revive

Renovate is a dream to transform our ministry space

Renovate is a dream to transform our hearts. God desires for our hearts to be renovated by His Spirit - to reflect the heart and desires of Christ.  This renovation process transforms our self-focused consumer mentality into an others’ focused Kingdom mentality.  Our culture does not make this process easy.  Our consumer culture has driven many people into high interest credit card debt, making it impossible for them to give toward Kingdom purposes such as this one.  Through the finance teaching series & workshops, Vintage Faith will strive to help people gain a Biblical understanding of finances as well as get practical tips on how to budget wisely and stay free from consumer debt.  This will allow us the freedom to participate in Kingdom type initiatives like Renovate and others we feel led to give towards.

Ways to participate with Renovate:

  •     Prayer – we will need prayer for wisdom, protection, and motivation
  •     Financial gifts – you may begin giving May 4 toward this project
  •     Gifts of time via work days – work days are fun community builders too!
  •     Skilled labor donation – please let us know your unique skills and experience!

Some things to remember as we move forward:

  • Many of us have been affected by the current economy - please do not feel bad if you are unable to participate financially at this time.
  • Our facility would cost over five million dollars to purchase while the cost to renovate it will be under five hundred thousand!  We can never forget what a blessing our facility is!
  • The Leadership Council will strive to maintain a balance in our Kingdom initiatives – by continuing to allocate funds for Global Missions and Render social justice ministries.
  • We will do everything we can to use sustainable, environmentally friendly resources to renovate our facility and are looking into creating an ongoing “Green Team” to help create a more “green” church facility
  • The ultimate goal of Renovate is not just a nice facility, but one that can be maximized for equipping leaders to serve the mission of sharing Jesus with our city and the world!
